About Our Cause

This is Girl's 4 Varsity Ice Hockey, a group of dedicated parents, supporters and tax payers dedicated to seeing that school sponsored High School Ice Hockey becomes a reality in WNY next season, 2009 - 2010. The time is NOW and we we must make sure our girls' opportunities to participate in scholastic sports are on a par with existing boy's programs.

The parents and students of following School Districts have shown a tremendous amount of support towards the formation of an official varsity high school hockey program in WNY.

Other Newsworthy Articles

An excerpt from an article from the Ithaca Journal 12/03/08

The other big change this season is in the league itself. The Upstate New York Girls High School Hockey League has expanded once again, adding four schools this season — St. Lawrence Central, Chazy, Alexandria Bay/Thousand Islands and the Academies of Albany.

The additional teams have allowed the sprawling league to form three divisions. While all 13 teams will still play each other one or two times apiece in the 19-game regular season, travel will be reduced and the playoffs will be regionalized. The top two teams from each division will receive automatic berths, as will the next two highest point-getters.
